AI in Marketing

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the best new development in technology. It is being implemented into many fields, including the business field. While it is largely used for customer service needs, it can also be utilized in marketing. I used AI during my marketing internship last summer and learned a lot about its use cases.

Marketing Plans

The first way that I have used AI in marketing is to outline a marketing plan. There is a lot that goes into a marketing plan, and sometimes it can be difficult to remember all of the components you need to go over. By simply asking ChatGPT to generate the outline of a marketing plan for me, I was given a great starting point to do all of the necessary research for my job. It gave me a much more detailed outline than I would have made myself and it was extremely helpful. I was able to use it to create SWOT and PESTEL analyses, look into the company’s competitors, and create ideas for all areas of marketing that the company wanted to dive into.

Social Media Marketing

Another way that I implemented AI into my job was in social media marketing. I was working on content planning, email releases, and general scheduling for the social media posts and emails I had created. By using different AI programs, I was able to schedule the sending of all the marketing emails I had created. I was also able to make a content calendar that posted the LinkedIn posts I created for where I had scheduled them in. While it isn’t difficult to manually send emails for publish content, it saves you some extra time when you can have it handled by AI.

Generative AI

The last way that I used AI during my internship was through generative AI. While creating content, I was searching for certain images to use in my posts, but wasn’t able to find them. My solution was to make the images myself using generative AI. Again, I could’ve simply edited the pictures together myself, but using AI to create unique images saved me time and made my content more interesting.

Just from my experience this past summer, I believe that AI will become a widely used tool in marketing as time goes on and the technology continues to improve. It helps to generate ideas, unique images, and save you time. AI can’t replace the creativity that people have, but it can definitely make our jobs easier.
