Finding My Place in MAC: A Senior Year Reflection

As I was transitioning from my junior year at UNH into my senior year, I knew that there was one last box to check, and that was to join a club to be more engaged with my business school. From friends who had previously joined the UNH Marketing Association Club in the past, I’ve heard a variety of positive qualities that would help me excel in my career. At the time, I knew that if I were to be involved in any club activities, it would not only help enhance my resume but also equip me with more tools and experience I could take with me when I graduate from college. When my friends had recommended MAC to me, it was a no-brainer, as they’ve done incredible work in the past, and the work and experiences were like none other at UNH.

In my first year with MAC as a senior at UNH, I’ve learned more skills than I ever thought I could learn from a club. What stood out to me the most was being hands-on and working directly with real-world clients, executing real-world work that I could take with me when I graduate. Coming into MAC, I didn’t know I was able to be this involved, but I was lucky enough to work on marketing materials, such as creating a social media strategy and developing content for companies such as Mr. Fox Composting. Additionally, I was able to construct a content calendar, marketing strategy, and even design new templates for The Great Bay Stewards, all presented through MAC SMAC from our Real World Business Challenge. Between conducting our hands-on workshops and working with real-world clients, I never knew that being a part of MAC would equip me with so many skills that I could take with me after graduation.

Although MAC’s work experience was one of the most valuable parts of my time here, I believe what made it truly special was the people around me and the experiences we got to do together. After looking back at a full year with the club, I can confidently say that I’ve met some of my closest friends yet. Getting to work on all these projects together has made us even closer and allowed us to have a fun and enjoyable work environment unlike any other. Additionally, we’ve gotten to travel to amazing places, such as Chicago, for ICC! This was an incredible experience, as I not only had never been to Chicago before, but I was there with some of my closest friends around me. We got to participate in fun challenges such as a Design Lab, Perfect Pitch, and more, as well as be a part of amazing award ceremonies and banquets!

All together, I wouldn’t trade my experiences with MAC for anything else. Between the real-life work and the close friendships with everyone, being a part of MAC has truly been one of the best highlights of my senior year. To any students, from freshman all the way to senior year, who are thinking of joining a club, I highly recommend the UNH Marketing and Advertising Club. The memories here are unlike any other things UNH has to offer, and I hope you can enjoy the amazing experiences just as much as I did!
